NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was arrested and charged on Thursday in connection with the fatal shooting of a Harlem street vendor in September, police said.
The incident happened on Sept. 20, when Anthony Williams, 65, a vendor known for his jerk chicken stand in Harlem was attacked and robbed.
The suspect, Trenton Henry, 28, grabbed Williams' bookbag and they got into a struggle. Henry then allegedly shot the vendor in the chest near West 142nd St. and Lenox Ave, police said.
The suspect escaped in a black Nissan Maxima, police said.
Williams was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead.
Henry, with a history of three prior drug arrests, faces charges of murder and robbery for the death of Williams.
