NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Mayor Zohran Mamdani went to Washington, D.C., on Thursday to meet with President Donald Trump, sources confirmed to 1010 WINS.

The unannounced meeting, which was set for the 1 p.m. hour, was not officially part of either leader's official schedule.

It's unclear what they planned to discuss. A person familiar with the plans told the New York Times that the topic would be building housing in NYC.

Neither the White House nor City Hall were immediately responding to requests for comment.

Mamdani last went to the White House in November, where he and Trump appeared to hit it off despite their polar-opposite political leanings.

At his State of the Union address on Tuesday, Trump said he speaks with Mamdani "a lot" and described him as a "nice guy" with "bad policy."
