NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man faces murder and other charges in death of a 3-year-old boy in Brooklyn over the weekend, police said Tuesday.
Kevin James, 29, was charged late Monday with murder, assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child, according to the NYPD.
Police officers responding to a 911 call at an apartment in East Flatbush around 9:45 p.m. Sunday found the child, Denim Brown, with traumatic injuries to his head and neck.
The boy was rushed from the New York Avenue apartment to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding his death weren't yet known Tuesday, but police said his mother wasn't home and that he was in the care of a friend.
WABC-TV reported that James is the stepson of the boy's babysitter, who is a family friend of the child's mom.
James' address is listed as the same New York Avenue building where the boy lived.
