NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A man was stabbed in the face at a Manhattan subway station by an assailant who dashed across the tracks to escape, police said Wednesday as they released images of the suspect.

The 50-year-old victim was at the 28th Street station in NoMad Saturday evening when he was approached on a northbound 6 platform by his attacker, who was armed with a “metal object,” according to police.

The stranger sprayed the man in the face with an unknown substance and then stabbed him in the face and head “numerous times,” police said.

After the attack, the stabber scrambled across the train tracks and out of the station.

EMS took the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue to be treated. He required multiple stitches for his injuries, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
