NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 72-year-old man crossing the street in an electric wheelchair was fatally struck by a vehicle in the Bronx on Saturday night, police said.
The victim, John Dellacava, was attempting to cross East Tremont Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue around 8:15 p.m. when a 25-year-old woman driving a Toyota Sienna minivan struck him, authorities said.
Responding officers found Dellacava with external injuries at the scene. He was transferred to Jacobi Hospital where he was later pronounced dead from internal injuries, cops said.
The driver remained on the scene and the investigation remains ongoing.
