NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was arrested Friday in connection with the stabbing of an Eric Adams campaign volunteer in the Bronx last week, police said.

Gary Oliver, 34, was taken into custody on Friday morning and charged with attempted murder, according to police.

The arrest comes a week after the NYPD said it was searching for Oliver in connection with the attack.

Police released surveillance video last week that they said showed Oliver and another man they were searching for.

The 42-year-old volunteer was stabbed near 149th Street and Morris Avenue in the Melrose section on the afternoon of June 20, according to police and Adams.

He was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where Adams said he underwent surgery.

Shortly after the stabbing, Adams said the volunteer "was out campaigning, and some type of dispute happened, and he was stabbed multiple times with an ice pick." Police said he had been stabbed with a knife.

A knife and an icepick were recovered near the scene, according to multiple reports.
