NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man was arrested in connection with two separate fatal shootings in the Bronx that occurred within a week of each other last year, police said Tuesday.
Jailyn Wagner, 20, was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal weapons possession, according to the NYPD.
The first shooting took place on July 23, 2024, when 28-year-old Idriss Cherif El Farissy was fatally shot in the head during an apparent mugging outside his home near East 176th Street and Mohegan Ave. in Crotona Park East. Officers responding to a 911 call around 9 p.m. found Farissy with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS arrived but pronounced him dead at the scene.
Cherif El Farissy was coming home from a shift as a Papa John's delivery driver when he was shot during the apparent mugging, according to the New York Post.
Less than a week later, on July 29, 2024, around 8 p.m., officers responded to another 911 call reporting an unconscious man. Upon arrival, they found 39-year-old Roman Martinez with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. EMS pronounced him dead at the scene.
Police have not yet disclosed a possible motive or any connection between the victims. The investigation is ongoing.
