NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 29-year-old man was formally charged on Friday for fatally stabbing a family of three in Queens.
Travis Blake was extradited to New York City from Maine and charged with three counts of manslaughter for the June 24 killings.
He was visiting his estranged girlfriend, 55-year-old Darlene Barnett, from Jamaica when he allegedly killed her and two family members, according to authorities.
Prosecutors accused Blake of killing Barnett, her 26-year-old son Dervon Brightly and her 22-year-old niece Vashawnna Malcolm.
Police found Barnett and Brightly stabbed to death in Barnett's basement days after the killing. Malcolm was discovered bound and gagged with multiple stab wounds in a second-floor bedroom.
Blake was arrested in Maine on July 1 — one day after the NYPD identified him as the suspect for the stabbings.
