NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A Bronx man was shot and critically wounded at a recording studio in Midtown Manhattan early Friday, police said as they searched for four men who fled the scene.

The 26-year-old victim was shot in the head around 12:40 a.m. in a 24/7 rehearsal space on the 11th floor of the Music Building at 584 Eighth Ave.

Police aren't yet sure of a motive, or if the victim was the intended target.

Four men fled the studio on foot, according to cops, who said one is believed to be in his 20s and was last seen wearing a black Nike shirt.

The victim was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was listed in critical condition.

Officers remained at the scene, just blocks from Times Square, on Friday morning as the investigation continued.

Workers at a nonprofit for the homeless across the street said the area can be dangerous after dark and that there are a lot of drugs around. "Always been out of control, especially at night," one man said.

Less than two years ago in May 2022, two men, including rapper Kamir King, were fatally shot at a recording studio a few blocks away at 354 West 37th St., leading to the arrest of multiple men on murder charges. There's no indication the latest shooting is related.
