NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A Queens man faces manslaughter, DWI and other charges after he mowed down pedestrians, killing one of them, in Manhattan on Sunday evening, police said.
The chaotic crash left a 23-year-old man dead and four people injured, including a woman who was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in critical condition.
Mahbub Ali, 26, of Astoria, was charged Sunday night with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter and assault.
He also faces charges of driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood-alcohol content .08 of 1%.

Police said Ali was speeding up Third Avenue in a gray 2021 Hyundai Sonata around 7:30 p.m. when he fatally struck the 23-year-old man in the crosswalk at E. 21st Street.
Ali then swerved to the right and struck a deliveryman on an e-bike before jumping a curb and hitting two more people, whose legs were run over by the right tires on the sidewalk, police said.
The Hyundai came to a rest after striking the back of a parked and unoccupied 2013 Chevy Express van.
One witness said it sounded like a "grenade went off" at the intersection.

The mortally wounded man was found unresponsive on the crosswalk and pronounced dead at Bellevue. His identity has been withheld pending the notification of his family.
A 26-year-old woman who was struck on the sidewalk suffered a severe leg injury and was rushed to Bellevue in critical condition.
A 21-year-old man who was also on the the sidewalk suffered a laceration to his leg and was hospitalized in stable condition.

The 18-year-old deliveryman on an e-bike was also stable at the hospital with pain to his leg and back.
A 25-year-old woman in the passenger seat of the Hyundai was transported to Bellevue with a broken right leg.
Sources said some of the victims don't have a known address and are believed to be migrants who've been staying at the former NYPD Academy on E. 20th Street.
The driver was not injured and taken into custody at the scene.
His smashed-up sedan was still at the scene Monday morning as an investigation into the crash continued.
