NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man reportedly died in a Bronx NYPD station house after overdosing in his cell as cops failed to keep watch.
Malik Rahman, 52, died on Aug. 25 in the 40th Precinct station house in Mott Haven after taking fentanyl that another detainee had snuck in, according to a report in the New York Daily News.
Rahman was in the holding cell with three other suspects brought in for separate crimes, the outlet reported.
One of the suspects reportedly managed to sneak the powerful synthetic opioid through two checks in the station house and all four taking the drug in the cell.
Sources told the Daily News that officers didn’t realize Rahman had overdosed for two hours because cops weren’t properly monitoring the cell.
The NYPD confirmed Rahman's death but did not comment on any details from the Daily News report.
