
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 46-year-old man was fatally struck by a subway train on Sunday after jumping onto the tracks of a Queens station Sunday night, authorities said.
The man was on the northbound platform of the Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue station around 11:30 p.m. when he dropped his phone, police said.
The victim jumped onto the tracks to retrieve his phone but could not get back up onto the platform. An F train then pulled into the station and struck the man, according to officials.
Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
