NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is investigating after a man was fatally struck while crossing a street on Friday, according to police.

At approximately 9 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian struck on 41st Avenue in the vicinity of 147th Street in Flushing, authorities said.

Upon arrival, officers observed 66-year-old Anthony Lardo lying on the roadway with head and body trauma.

EMS transported Lardo to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that a 2013 Toyota Highlander driven by a 68-year-old man was traveling eastbound on 41st Avenue at the same time Lardo was running across 41st Avenue, from the north side of the street towards the south side.

The vehicle struck him with the passenger side front corner, forcing him to the roadway, officials said.

The driver remained at the scene and was not injured.

There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
