NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man who was fatally shot at a Bronx playground was among four men killed in New York City shootings over a nine-hour span on Thursday, police said.
Two of the shootings were in the Bronx and two were in Brooklyn. The first took place just after 3 p.m., while the playground shooting happened shortly before midnight.
Police said that in all there were 10 shooting incidents citywide Thursday with 11 victims, including the four men who died and seven people who were injured. Between midnight and 9:30 a.m. Friday, six people were shot, none of them fatally.

Gunfire erupted at the Gouverneur Playground in the Claremont Village section of the Bronx around 11:30 p.m. Thursday, killing a man and wounding a 24-year-old woman, police said.
Officers responding to a 911 call found the man shot multiple times in the body at the playground. He was rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified.
The 24-year-old woman later walked into Lincoln Hospital with a gunshot wound to her arm, police said. She was listed in stable condition.
The Daily News reported that she was a bystander hit by a stray bullet.
Police said one suspect was taken into custody with charges pending in connection with the shooting.

Hours earlier in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx, a 23-year-old man was shot and killed at Cruger and Lydig avenues around 3 p.m.
Police said the victim, identified as Abdessamad Essafoui, was shot multiple times in the chest. He was pronounced dead at Jacobi Medical Center.
No arrests have been reported in Essafoui's death.
About three hours after the Pelham Parkway shooting, officers responding to a call about a shooting in Brooklyn found a 33-year-old man lying unconscious on E. 94th Street, near Church Avenue, in East Flatbush around 6 p.m.
Police said the man had been shot in the body. He was taken to SUNY Downstate Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He has not been identified.
No arrests have been reported in the shooting.

Another man was shot in Bedford-Stuyvesant around 9:30 p.m., police said.
The victim, identified as 40-year-old Kamaal King, was shot multiple times in the body near Lewis and Lafayette avenues—about a block away from his apartment.
King was taken to Woodhull Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been reported.
On Wednesday, the NYPD said overall index crime in the city jumped 30.4% last month.
Shootings continue to remain a problem in the city, with another 149 incidents recorded in April — up 166.1% from the 56 incidents in April 2020.
Still, the NYPD recorded 223 gun arrests citywide, accounting for a 3.7% increase from last year.
