NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A would-be thief beat a subway rider while demanding cash at a Queens station last week, then fled the scene empty-handed, the NYPD said Wednesday as they released images of the suspect.

The 26-year-old victim was on a Manhattan-bound J train at the 111th Street station in Richmond Hill around 7:40 a.m. on Thursday when he was attacked by the suspect, according to police.

The suspect repeatedly punched the victim in the face as he demanded money from him, police said.

He ultimately fled the station without taking any money or other property, according to the NYPD.

The victim suffered minor injuries and declined additional medical attention at the scene.
