Man who punched senior during dispute outside LES bodega sought by NYPD

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) -- Authorities are looking to identify a man for punching a senior during a dispute outside a bodega on the Lower East Side earlier this month, the NYPD said.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, December 15, just before 1 p.m., inside a bodega located at 161 Rivington Street, officials said.

According to police, a 77-year-old man was approached by the suspect and the two engaged in a verbal dispute.

As the two exited the location, the dispute continued escalating into a physical encounter and the suspect punched the victim in the face before fleeing the location in an unknown direction, the NYPD said.

The victim sustained a laceration to his nose and lost a tooth, but refused medical attention.

The suspect is described as an adult male, approximately 30-years-old, medium complexion, approximately 5'1" tall, weighing 160 lbs. and short dark hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue sweatpants, a yellow t-shirt, white sneakers, and carrying a black bag.

Authorities released surveillance video of the suspect walking southbound on Clinton Street, taken after the incident.
