Man puts gun to cabbie's head, robs him of over $1,000 in Harlem: police

NEW YORK (WCBS 880) – A passenger put a gun to a cab driver's head and threatened to kill him before robbing him of over $1,000 in Manhattan, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance images Friday of a suspect in the Sept. 12 robbery in Harlem.


Police said the 31-year-old cabbie picked up the man at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue around 9:50 p.m.

While the cabbie was driving, the man put a gun to his head and demanded his valuables while threatening to kill him, police said.

The cabbie handed over $70 in cash and his iPhone, according to police.

The passenger also made him log into his Cash App account and transfer $1,000 in two separate transactions to unknown accounts, police said.

The robber fled the taxi at 135th Street and Lenox Avenue, according to police, who said he was last seen headed northbound on Lenox.

No injuries were reported in the robbery.
