NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a Bronx man for drunk driving after he slammed into a New York State trooper squad car on the Triborough Bridge Sunday night.

According to police, 57-year-old Mario Mellado was cuffed by Troopers assigned to Wards Island after his 2017 Toyota Camry collided with the squad car just before 10 p.m.

The two troopers inside the squad car suffered minor injuries and were taken to an area hospital, authorities said.

Responding officers found Mellado had allegedly been driving drunk.

Mellado was charged with aggravated drunk driving, reckless endangerment, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

He was released without bail following his arraignment on Monday and is due back in court March 11.
