NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man was stabbed in the back on an escalator at the Yankee Stadium subway station on Sunday, police said as they released images of the suspect.

The 33-year-old victim was on the escalator at the 161st Street–Yankee Stadium station around 1:30 p.m. when a shirtless man came up and plunged a sharp object into his back.

The attacker fled the station on foot, leaving the victim with a puncture wound.

EMS responded and rushed the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition.

An investigation into the assault is ongoing.
