
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man is wanted for animal abuse after he struck and severely injured a cat on a Manhattan street, officials announced Friday.
The suspect was near East 9th Street and Avenue D in the East Village at about 12:30 a.m. on Dec. 4 when he spotted the feline.
Police said that the man grabbed a wooden stool and struck the cat, breaking its jaw and fracturing vertebrae in its neck and back.
The cat was taken to Brooklyn Animal Welfare Coalition in stable condition.
Video from the incident shows a brown dog and gray cat interacting on the sidewalk before the suspect walks forward. Right next to where the animals are is a garbage pile, which includes a wooden stool.
The suspect was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and gray sneakers.
