NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A man yelled anti-Asian slurs at a mother and her three kids on a Manhattan subway train before spitting at them and kicking the mom’s phone off of the moving train car, police said Saturday.

The 44-year-old mom and her children were aboard a 5-line train operating on the 3 line near the 42nd Street-Times Square station around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday when they were targeted by the man, according to police.

The man yelled anti-Asian slurs at the mom and the kids and then spat twice in their direction, police said.

He then knocked the woman’s phone out of her hand and kicked it from the rear door of the moving train car onto the tracks, according to police.

EMS took the mom and kids to Mount Sinai West for observation.

The incident is being investigated as a hate crime, police said.

The suspect fled the subway and was last seen headed westbound on W. 41st Street towards Eighth Avenue, according to police.

The NYPD released surveillance images of the suspect on Saturday. They believe he’s in his early-to-mid 50s.
