NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- MasterVoices, a symphonic choir that stages performances spanning the musical spectrum from opera to musical theater and at different venues, on Thursday night heads to midtown Manhattan's Central Synagogue for "O How Good," a performance of "Jewish Sacred Music" led by Tony Award-winning Maestro Ted Sperling.
The program includes two works of traditional Jewish liturgy: Ernest Bloch’s "Sacred Service" and Kurt Weill’s "Kiddush." The program will also include "And the Sun Goes Up," a new work by Israeli-American composer Daniel Rein, commissioned by MasterVoices.
Joining the choir will be baritone -- and Drama Desk nominee for "Intimate Apparel"-- Justin Austin. Also part of the program will be tenor David Mutlu, Central Synagogue's senior cantor and a member of the choir at Trinity Church on Wall Street, as well as David Strickland, organist at the synagoge.
Tickets start at $25 and are available at mastervoices.org or at Central Synagogue Thursday night.
The program runs 75 minutes and kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.
