NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Two robbers are wanted by the NYPD for a series of knifepoint stickups last month at fast food restaurants along the same street in the Bronx, including a Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen that was struck twice.
The masked thieves began their spree at about 8:24 p.m. on Jan. 13 when they approached a 25-year-old man working behind the counter at a Dunkin’ located at 980 East 233rd St. in Wakefield.
One suspect pulled out a knife to threaten the employee, while the other acted as a lookout and snatched about $800 cash from the register. The duo then fled eastbound on East 233rd St.

Not even a week later, the robbers struck again, this time hitting a Popeye’s located at 1201 East 233rd St., police said. The chicken restaurant is down the street from the Dunkin’ in neighboring Edenwald.
Just before 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 19, the thieves approached the 24-year-old man working behind the counter and recreated their previous robbery, with one holding a knife and the other removing $1,200 in cash from the register.
They then fled eastbound on East 233rd St. toward Grenada Street.
Later that week—just after 9:15 p.m. on Jan. 24—one of the suspects returned to the Popeye’s solo and went up to a 21-year-old employee working the counter.
He pulled out a knife, removed about $515 from the register and then once again fled eastbound on 233rd St.
There were no injuries reported in any of the robberies that cumulatively banked the robbers over $2,500.
Police described the first suspect as a man with a light build, and he was last seen wearing a black mask, multicolored Nickelodeon jacket, blue jeans and black and red sneakers. He was also carrying a black backpack.
His accomplice is described as another man with a light build and was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark-colored jeans and white sneakers.
It was not clear which suspect committed the third robbery on his own.
