Mom arrested after girl, 4, found walking alone on Bronx street at midnight: police


NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A mother was arrested days after police found her 4-year-old daughter walking alone on a street in the Bronx, the NYPD said Tuesday.

The 32-year-old woman was arrested and charged with abandonment of a child, acting in a manner injurious to a child and reckless endangerment on Tuesday, police said.

The NYPD on Feb. 28 asked for the public’s help identifying the woman’s 4-year-old daughter after police officers found her walking alone at the corner of Prospect Avenue and East 156th Street in the South Bronx around midnight on Feb. 27.

The girl was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln for evaluation and released to the care of the Administration for Child Services in good physical health, police said.

The Daily News reported that the girl's mother left her alone on the street before heading to a homeless shelter.
