NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The woman accused of drowning her three young children in the waters off Coney Island earlier this week was arraigned on murder charges Friday from her hospital bed, where she will remain in custody.

Erin Merdy is charged with one count of murder and three counts each of second-degree murder, both with depraved indifference to human life and murder with a victim under 11 years old.
In her first court appearance via video conference on Friday, the 30-year-old wearing a yellow gown softly responded "yes" to the judge's questions from her bed at NYU Langone Brooklyn.
The prosecutor described how Merdy was seen on video just before 1 a.m. Monday taking her three children — Zachary Merdy, 7, Lilana Merdy, 4, and Oliver Bondarev, 3 months old — toward the ocean in Coney Island.
Police found her two hours later, wet and barefoot, on the boardwalk two miles away. An hour later, her lifeless children were found wet and covered in sand on the shore.
The D.A. said she told relatives she had hurt the children. She now faces the possibility of three consecutive life sentences in prison.
Her public defender did not request bail but rather protective custody with medical and psychiatric attention.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 20.
