NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A motorcyclist died after getting into a crash with a Mercedes-Benz in Midtown East on Thursday, the NYPD said.
The 22-year-old man was driving a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle west on East 57th Street just before 7 a.m. when he collided with a Mercedes-Benz that was turning left onto 1st Avenue from East 57th Street, a preliminary police investigation found.
The impact threw the motorcyclist from his vehicle into the street, leaving him with body trauma, the NYPD said. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The Mercedes-Benz driver stayed at the scene and hadn't been charged as of Thursday evening, the NYPD said.
Police didn't immediately release the motorcyclist's name. An investigation is ongoing.
