NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the "New York Blooms Report" on Wednesday, which will release a weekly report to help New Yorkers identify the best places to view select flowers across the state.
The reports, managed by I LOVE NY, will track the stages of bloom for five selected flowers, lilacs, roses, tulips, magnolias and cherry blossoms, this year, from "no activity yet" to "full bloom" to "past peak/done blooming." These reports will be released weekly and based on field observations from arborists, gardeners, and caretakers at over 30 sites across the state's 11 vacation regions.

The first report was released on Wednesday and will update every Wednesday afternoon through June, exclusively on iloveny.com/blooms. And according to the site, in New York City magnolia blooms and cherry blossoms are emerging at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Daffodils are also blooming on Daffodil Hill there.
In Brooklyn, magnolia blooms are seen at The Green-Wood Cemetery. On Long Island, Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park reports early magnolia blooms on various species and varieties.
“Spring is an exciting time in New York as the temperatures get warmer, the birds return from their winter migration, and the flowers bud and bloom in both our own gardens and in the many parks and botanical gardens throughout the state," Hochul said. "I encourage residents and visitors to stop and smell the roses – and a host of other flowers— while also discovering all that our parks, farms, historic sites and gardens have to offer.”
Partner sites will share photos for the report, and provide information about any unique or exciting flowers in their locations.
The site will also have a news portal providing people with information on celebrations, shows and exhibitions.
The New York Blooms Report will also be featuring picturesque spring flowers on their I LOVE NY’s social media accounts. Everyone is invited to share their best New York State flower photos using the #NYBloomsReport hashtag for a chance to be featured.
