PATERSON, N.J. (1010 WINS) — A New Jersey police officer has been charged with having a "sexual relationship" with a minor and asking the child to take and send nude photos and videos, prosecutors said Monday.
The Riverdale Police Department received a report claiming Pompton Lakes Police Officer Mark Stinnard, 37, was "sexually involved" with a minor on April 23, 2018, the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said in a press release.
An investigation found that Stinnard was having a "sexual relationship" with the minor, and had asked the minor to take and send nude photos and videos to him, the prosecutor's office said, without providing additional details.
Stinnard was suspended from his department on April 24 of that year, Pompton Lakes Police Chief Derek Clark told 1010 WINS. He is currently suspended without pay amid the ongoing investigation, Clark said.
Stinnard was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child for manufacturing child pornography, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child for engaging in sexual conduct with a child, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child for possessing child pornography and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child for causing harm to a child on Monday, the prosecutor's office said.
His attorney information wasn't immediately available Tuesday.
