NJ man charged in hit-and-run crash that killed woman, 68, on Staten Island

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A New Jersey man has been arrested and charged after a hit-and-run crash on Staten Island on Tuesday evening left a woman dead and a man critically injured.

Prince Nesbitt-Hall, an 18-year-old from Rahway, was arrested Wednesday. He faces a long list of charges, including manslaughter, assault, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and criminal possession of stolen property.

Kauser Akhund, 68, of Staten Island, and a 70-year-old man were traveling east on Lamberts Lane in a Mercedes Benz around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday when a driver traveling north on Elson Street in a Honda Accord hit them at the intersection, the NYPD said.

Akhund and the 70-year-old man were taken to Richmond University Medical Center, where Akhund was pronounced dead, police said.

The 70-year-old man was listed in critical condition with head trauma, according to police.

Police said the driver of the Honda Accord fled the scene of the crash on foot.

Nesbitt-Hall was charged around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.
