HILLSBOROUGH, N.J. (1010 WINS) -- A New Jersey mom was arrested on charges that she murdered her two sons, ages 7 and 5, at the family’s home in Somerset County on Tuesday.
Priyatharsini Natarajan, 35, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, police responded to a 911 call around 6:45 p.m. from the children's father, who had arrived home from work to find them lifeless in a bedroom. He said his wife “did something to them,” prosecutors said.
When police arrived at the home on Shell Court in Hillsborough Township, they tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate the boys, who were pronounced dead at the scene.
Natarajan and her husband were both at the home when officers arrived. She was arrested.
The children’s cause and manner of death is being investigated by the medical examiner’s office, according to prosecutors, who have not yet identified the victims.
