NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A nurse was fatally struck by a motorcyclist in Brooklyn while riding her bicycle home from an overnight shift over the weekend, officials said.
According to. police, 31-year-old Clara Kang was cycling east on 56th Street at around 7:30 a.m. in Sunset Park on Saturday after leaving work at NYU Langone Hospital - Brooklyn when she was struck by a motorcyclist heading north on Third Avenue.
The 29-year-old motorcyclist was riding on a black and white 2018 Suzuki GSZ-R at the time he and Kang were tossed onto the street, police said.
EMS rushed Kang to the same hospital where she finished working her shift but succumbed to her injuries, officicals said.
The motorcyclist was also transported to the same hospital in critical but stable condition.
According to a GoFundMe page set up for Kang, she worked on the front lines during the height of the coronavirus crisis.
"She had the biggest heart and lived her life to care for others; not just in her work but in her personal life as well," friend Elaine Lee posted on the site. "She was that friend who would reach out when you're feeling down or sick to make sure you're doing okay."
The motorcyclist was not charged.
