NEW YORK (BLOOMBERG) -- Mayor Zohran Mamdani has lifted the directive that closed streets, highways and bridges to most traffic as snow continues to fall across the city.

“The city’s travel ban is lifted, but conditions on the roads remain icy,” Mamdani said in a social media post. “If you choose to drive, please exercise caution, travel slowly, and be mindful of others on the road."

Mamdani implemented the travel ban on Sunday, barring nonessential vehicles as well as electronic bikes and scooters from driving throughout the city. It was designed to keep residents safe in their homes and discourage travel that was not required. Exceptions were made for emergency services and essential workers traveling to their jobs.

Central Park recorded approximately 15 inches inches of snowfall as of 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service.
