Queens public school paraprofessional busted for assaulting student, 8

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — An 8-year-old student was allegedly attacked by a paraprofessional working in a Queens public school.

Lashawn Leak, 34, was arrested Thursday and charged with assault, according to police.

Leak allegedly grabbed the girl by the arm at an unidentified Queens school around 10:40 a.m., police told the Daily News.

She was immediately suspended without pay, according to the Department of Education.

"The safety and wellbeing of our students remains our top priority," DOE spokesperson Jenna Lyle said in a statement.
