NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A thief stole an 85-year-old woman’s shopping cart near Fordham University in the Bronx—making off with $40,000 in cashier’s checks and other valuables, police said.

The NYPD released images Friday of the suspect wanted in the brazen midday theft in the Beford Park section on Wednesday.

The victim was walking at East 195th Street and Marion Avenue at 12 p.m. when the thief snatched her shopping cart, police said.

The cart contained an Apple iPhone, several debit and credit cards, and $40,000 in cashier’s checks, according to the NYPD.

The suspect was last seen fleeing eastbound on East 195th Street.

The victim was not physically injured during the ordeal.
