NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Multiple charges have been levied against an NYPD detective who allegedly convinced cops that he was driving drunk after he reported his car stolen.
Police said off-duty Det. Edgar Guerrero, 30, was arrested early Monday morning, with sources telling The New York Daily News that he called to report his Honda Accord stolen in Washington Heights and appeared drunk once officers responded.
Sources allege that Guerrero told the responding officers that he was getting food when his car was stolen.
While The Daily News said the car was never recovered, cops were able to determine that he had driven while drunk.
The NYPD said Guerrero has been charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired and refusing to take a breath test.
