NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are investigating the deaths of two women whose bodies were found over the weekend in the waters off Queens and in Inwood Hill Park in Upper Manhattan.
There’s no indication the two cases are related, police said, as the medical examiner works to determine their cause of death.
The first body was discovered floating in the waters off the jogging path at Fort Totten Park around 11 a.m. Sunday.
A jogger who saw the body called 911, and the NYPD Harbor Unit recovered the remains of a woman, who was identified as Sharon Shao, 51, of Flushing.
Foul play can’t be ruled out in the Queens case, as police found a Mercedes in a nearby parking lot with blood inside. A knife was also in the vehicle, according to the Daily News.
Just hours later, around 5 p.m. Sunday, someone found the second woman’s body on the ground in Inwood Hill Park.
The woman didn’t have any visible signs of trauma to her body, sources told 1010 WINS.
