NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An NYPD officer and a Venezuelan citizen residing in Indiana were arrested on Thursday for sexual exploitation of a child, according to prosecutors.

Angad Beharry, 46, of Yonkers, and Gisainet Cristina Chirinos Viloria, 23, were both charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, which carries a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years.

Beharry is additionally charged with possessing sexually explicit video and images of minors, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

From at least Aug. 31, 2022, to about Sep. 3, 2022, the pair planned to get a female minor to engage in sexual activity, to take sexually explicit photos and videos of the minor and upload them to transmit over the internet to Beharry, according to the indictment.

Beharry, who used the alias "Gad," allegedly asked Viloria to take explicit photos of a 9-year-old girl whom Viloria appeared to know, according to court documents. Viloria allegedly sent the photos to Beharry through WhatsApp. Beharry then allegedly asked Viloria the price for all the content and stated that he transmitted money to her.

"The alleged actions of Angad Beharry and Gisainet Cristina Chirinos Viloria are unconscionable and despicable," Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York said. "Moreover, Beharry, as New York City Police officer, is trusted in this community to protect us and stand up for what is right, but he now stands accused of victimizing a child to satisfy his own alleged repulsive desires."

Additionally, the complaint charged that from around April 23, 2022, to June 20, 2023, Beharry allegedly possessed sexually explicit videos and images of minors, including prepubescent minors and minors under the age of 12.

Around October 2022, according to the complaint, a woman, who was arrested for taking sexually explicit photographs of her 1-year-old daughter and distributing them on social media, reported to Colombian law enforcement that she had been communicating with Beharry on Facebook.

Beharry had allegedly asked her for sexually explicit material of the infant and her mother, among other requests, according to court documents.

The mother also said that she had a friend, Viloria, who was also in contact with Beharry.

Beharry joined the NYPD in 2007, according to public records.

Both Beharry and Viloria are now charged with  one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, which carries a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Beharry is additionally charged with pornography depicting prepubescent minors under the age of 12, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Beharry and Viloria were both detained without bail.
