NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD asked for the public’s help Friday as it investigates who fatally shot a 75-year-old retired baker whose body was found along a lake at Kissena Park in Queens this week.
Police identified the victim as Albert Itzkowitz, of Kew Gardens Hills. According to reports, he was a “pillar of the community” known for his volunteer work with Hatzolah and as the former owner of a kosher bakery in Flushing.
Itzkowitz’s body was found just before 5 p.m. Monday on the shore of Kissena Lake in East Flushing.
He’d been shot multiple times in the neck and back, police said. His death has been ruled a homicide by the medical examiner.
Police said they currently have no suspect description and are asking for any tips the public may have.
The NYPD’s Crime Stoppers is offering a $3,500 reward. Anyone with information is asked to call the hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
