Off-duty NYC employee arrested in Queens for filling pool from fire hydrant

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An off-duty city employee was arrested on Tuesday in Queens for allegedly using a fire hydrant to fill his pool, according to police.

Rodolfo Jimenez, a 41-year-old New York City sanitation worker, was arrested and charged within the confines of the 113th Precinct at around 10:20 p.m.


Jimenez allegedly connected a hose to a fire hydrant to fill his backyard pool in Queens, according to the Gothamist.

He now faces charges for theft of services related to the illegal use of telecommunications, according to police. The specific charges include theft of services for illegal use of telecommunications over $100 and theft of services for illegal use of telecommunications under $100.

Details of the case and the circumstances leading to Jimenez's arrest were not immediately clear.
