NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – NYPD officers shot and injured a man who drove towards them in a stolen van in Brooklyn on Wednesday night, police said.
The man was one of two men spotted breaking into a vehicle near Georgia and Pitkin avenues in the New Lots neighborhood just before 9 p.m., police said.
The officers confronted the men, one of whom jumped into a second stolen van and drove towards the officers, according to police.
Two officers opened fire on the man, striking him in the leg.

Police said the officers then pursued the stolen van to Jamaica Avenue and Pennsylvania Avenue—about seven blocks away—where the van collided with a marked NYPD vehicle.
The 61-year-old man behind the wheel was taken into custody at the scene and transported by EMS to Brookdale Hospital for treatment.
The second man was taken into custody at Georgia and Pitkin avenues without incident, police said.
The officers were taken to Jamaica Hospital for treatment. They were not seriously injured.
