NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – A dump truck overturned in a multi-vehicle crash on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway early Wednesday, spilling debris all over the roadway and causing massive delays all morning.
The collision happened in the BQE’s westbound lanes shortly before 5 a.m. at Tillary Street in Fort Greene.

The truck dumped scrap metal on the road and knocked down an overhead sign in a wild crash that also involved a passenger bus and an SUV. Several people were injured but were all said to be in stable condition.
Traffic piled up for hours, with the eastbound lanes not fully reopening until 10 a.m. The westbound lanes remained closed at Tillary as massive jams persisted past the morning rush.

Westbound delays stretched for miles back to Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights, while eastbound delays on the Gowanus were all the way back to 86th Street in Dyker Heights.
Westbound drivers headed to the city were advised to get off at the Williamsburg Bridge, while eastbound drivers were encouraged to exit at the Brooklyn–Battery Tunnel or Brooklyn Bridge.
