NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The world's largest menorah is back, and will be part of full-fledged holiday festivities this year.
The menorah came together Wednesday at Grand Army Plaza on 59th Street, and will be lit Sunday for the start of Hanukkah.
The building and lighting was met with even more cheer this year after somewhat muted holiday celebrations in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Throughout the eight-day holiday, New Yorkers and visitors will have the chance to join nightly lightings at the menorah, located near Central Park and outside the Plaza Hotel. It stands at 36 feet, certified by Guinness World Records as the largest.
Organized by the Lubavich Youth Organization, the events will feature the lighting, live music and Chassidic dancing. Public officials are expected to be part of the festivities.

The lightings will take place at 5:30 p.m. Sunday Nov. 28 through Thursday Dec. 2, then at 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 3, 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 4 and back to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 5.
The tradition dates back to 1973 as part of a campaign to raise awareness of the holiday.
