NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A nonprofit that hopes to build a plus-shaped floating pool off of Manhattan has gotten the city’s stamp of approval for its chosen location, according to a report.
Plus Pool plans to build the futuristic pool just north of the Manhattan Bridge, near the Lower East Side — if they secure all of the approvals needed to do so, Curbed reported.
The group began raising money for the project back in 2013, the outlet reported.
“We have an official confirmation to succeed with the next steps for the project,” Plus Pool’s managing director, Kara Meyer, told Curbed. “We have a home.”
“The next big hurdle is regulation,” she said, adding that the group was “going to move forward” with “due diligence.”
The project is expected to cost between $20 million and $25 million in total, the outlet noted.
