Police arrest man accused of trying to kidnap boy, 8, walking with mom at Bronx subway station

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Police on Thursday arrested a man they say attempted to kidnap a child walking with his mom at a Bronx train station last week.

Luis Toledo, 36, was arrested at 5:25 p.m., according to officials.

His charges include attempted kidnapping, act in a manner injurious to a child, and unlawful imprisonment, the NYPD said.

On Tuesday, March 16, at approximately 9:17 p.m., officials said a 35-year-old woman and her 8-year-old son entered the Fordham Road Station in the Bronx and proceeded toward the southbound D Line platform.

While walking down the stairs the unidentified man approached them and grabbed the 8-year-old from his mother's hand, authorities said.

The woman began screaming for help and immediately pulled her son away from the male, who kept staring at them, according to police.

No injuries were reported and the suspect then left the location as a crowd began to form.

An investigation remains ongoing.
