NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The man who allegedly shot and wounded three bystanders in Times Square on Saturday was aiming for his brother, who identified him to police, according to multiple reports.

The NYPD released surveillance video Saturday night of a man they described as a person of interest in the shooting.

The man’s brother later identified him to police and revealed he was the intended target, according to WABC and WNBC.

Sources told the New York Post and the Daily News that the man being sought is Farrakhan Muhammad, a 31-year-old peddler of bootleg CDs. He was reportedly charged in a random assault in 2020.

Police said gunfire erupted during a dispute between several men near W. 44th Street and Seventh Avenue just before 5 p.m. Saturday.

The shooting wounded a 4-year-old girl from Brooklyn, a 23-year-old woman from Rhode Island and a 43-year-old woman from New Jersey. All of them were hospitalized with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said the girl was buying toys with her family at the time, and like the rest of the victims, was a bystander.
