NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Port Authority police officer shot two people—killing one and critically injuring another—before fatally shooting himself in a murder-suicide in the Bronx on Thursday morning, sources said.

Just before 8 a.m., officers responded to an apartment building on Johnson Avenue in Spuyten Duyvil, where they discovered a 55-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman who had both sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders also located an 86-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the face. She was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

The shooting appears to be a murder-suicide. Sources told 1010 WINS that the 55-year-old man was a Port Authority police officer who shot the other two.

The relationship between the three of them wasn’t immediately clear, but police described the shooting as domestic in nature

Jane Burbank, a friend of the yet-identified victim, remembered her as a loving person who had a big family.

“She was a wonderful person,” Burbank said. “She was full of life. She loved to dance. She loved to get people together. She loved to cook. She loved to eat. She loved to travel and was looking forward to her retirement so she could travel more and do more things that she enjoyed.”
