NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Two workers at a deli in Rockaway Park were indicted and arraigned for attacking a customer in June, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.
If convicted, each of them faces up to 15 years in prison, on four counts including first-degree strangulation and second-degree assault.
"A grand jury has weighed in and these defendants stand accused of a brutal attack and will be held to account," Katz said in a statement.
Saber Abuhamra, 34, and Jorge Hernandez, 23, were confronting intoxicated customer James Keena over a disputed order, when the conflict escalated into violence.
The June 11 chokehold put Keena, 31, on life support for several hours through the morning of June 12, unable to breathe on his own.
Abuhamra and Hernandez are set to return to court on Aug. 3.
