NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Officials arrested a 20-year-old man accused of fatally striking a 3-year-old boy in a hit-and-run Wednesday night in Queens, authorities said.

Kevin Gomez was arrested Thursday evening and charged with leaving the scene of an accident-resulting in death and unlicensed operation.

An investigation by the NYPD's Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined that the driver of a white 2014 Infiniti Q50 began to pull away from the curb line at College Point Boulevard and 41st Avenue in Flushing when he struck the boy who was crossing in front of the vehicle.

The boy fell to the ground and was subsequently struck by the driver side tires.

The vehicle continued traveling southbound on College Point Boulevard and was recovered unoccupied at College Point Boulevard and Pople Avenue.

EMS transported the boy to New York-Presbyterian Hospital Queens Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
