NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens man has been arrested and charged with breaking a 75-year-old Asian woman's nose in an unprovoked attack that was caught on surveillance tape last month, authorities say.
Christian Batista, of Corona, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault and third-degree assault Monday morning, the NYPD said.
Police say the woman was pulling a grocery cart west on 57th Avenue, near 97th Place, in Corona around 2:30 p.m. on May 26 when Batista walked past and punched her in the face.

Emergency responders transported the woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was treated for a fractured nose and fractured right orbital bone, police said. The NYPD initially said the woman suffered a bruised eye and two fractured orbital bones.
Police didn't say whether the assault is being investigated as a hate crime.
