NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Queens woman was arrested for leaving the scene of a fatal hit-and-run crash New Year's Day on Long Island, according to Nassau County officials.
According to detectives, at 5:55 p.m. a 38-year-old man was crossing Old Country Road from north to south in the vicinity of Floral Avenue in Plainview when he was struck by a 2018 Jeep Wrangler traveling eastbound on Old Country Road.
The vehicle did not stop and continued eastbound. The victim sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police was determined that Veronica Marmol, of College Point, was driving the vehicle. She was arrested without incident.
Marmol, 39, was charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death. She will be arraigned on Thursday.
